We’re about to hit 24-hour darkness? Best to log into Facebook then

Inside Facebook looks at the list of countries with the highest % penetration by population and makes an observation. Countries with cold, dark winters top the list – Iceland (49.5%), Norway (45.4%) and Canada (38.7%).

Meanwhile the fact that a third of Brits use Facebook is noteworthy, simply because of the size of the country’s population – in raw numbers this would translate into around 16.5 million adult UK users (based on an adult population of 48.7 million).

Inside Facebook does point out that in the top ten Facebook countries by % we also have warmer places like Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong, so perhaps the weather does drive people indoors and online, but needless to say it’s not the only factor at play.
